Annual Conference
Call for Abstracts
abstracts due 19th April, 2026
The Oxford Transnational and Global History Seminar (TGHS) invites abstracts for its Annual Conference from graduate students and early-career researchers.
This year we focus on histories of knowledge, early modern and modern, as constituted through global encounters and exchanges. We welcome submissions on any topic that engages with the production, circulation, transformation, and contestation of knowledge in global history. We are particularly interested in how knowledge moved across regions, empires, and communities, and how social, cultural, and political contexts shaped what counted as knowledge and who could produce it. Further details can be found here.
Abstracts must be between 250–300 words and should be submitted via this link by April 19th 2026. Abstracts must be accompanied by a short bio (less than 100 words) and applicants must clearly indicate whether they would like to present in-person or online.
Due to the high volume of abstracts we usually receive, we are unable to acknowledge submissions individually. Shortlisted applicants will be notified by 30 April.
The conference is scheduled to be held online and in person at the University of Oxford on 25 and 26 June 2026. For updates, please keep an eye on our website.
